I’m making steady progress on the Margravate of Azilia piece, which I’ve been calling a quilt but which may not even turn into a quilt. That is, it may wind up being an embroidered or thread sketched piece without batting. We’ll see.
The 116 houses in the “landed gentry” area are finished, and their accompanying trees and pathways. Readers who follow me on Facebook already know that I goofed and made seven of the houses upside down! In consideration of the historical context of the quilt, I decided to rip them out and fix them, a task that took a whole morning, but only a morning.
Each of the 116 “landed gentry” plots represents one square mile, according to Sir Robert Montgomery’s plan.
I also got a good start on one of the four 25 square mile “great parks” featuring trees, deer, cows, sheep. (I’ve not stitched any animals yet.)
Lastly in terms of progress so far, I drew off the formal gardens surrounding the “Palace of the Margrave.” They’ll wind up being green, and the “palace,” yet to be drafted, will go there in the center.
One more thing I’d like to add before I post photos: I’m having lots of fun!
